Do You Know?

" As you stand in line at your local grocery store do you know the person behind you? In the line at Starbuck’s in your mall do you know the person at the table sitting by the window? I venture to say not only do you not know these people but never really give this a thought. You see, in this country we are provided certain rights guaranteed by our Constitution that allow us to gather where we want, worship where we want and say basically what we want. This is what makes us Americans but also what makes the radical fundamentalist and terrorists want so much to destroy our way of life. The people that complain about the freedom we hold so dearly are also the ones that have been indoctrinated into believing that these rights are capitalistic, evil and that the United States and its allies should be destroyed.
A case in point is David Headley who was recently charged with assisting in the planning of the terrorist attacks in Mumbai. Mr. Headley, who has an American mother and Pakistani father, is that person. Mr. Headley has had the fortune to travel freely in the United States by birthright. This right is given to all American citizens and unfortunately this right is beginning to rear its ugly head in the form of home grown terrorists.
In November 2008 Mr. Headley, after being drafted and trained from 2002 - 2003 by the Pakistani terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba, facilitated the deaths of more than 50 people in the Indian Capitol of Mumbai. With an American passport and terrorist funding Mr. Headley was allowed to travel freely throughout various countries with no questions asked. This allowed the opportunity to collect intelligence on specific targets of interest and ultimately to conduct this deadly raid. Luckily, at the time of Mr. Headley’s capture at Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport, authorities found what is believed to be information that would have been used in a plot to kill both a Danish cartoonist and editor after their newspaper published cartoons satirizing Muslims in 2005.
With the recent carnage that took place at Fort Hood, Texas perpetrated by an American Army officer who was a practicing Muslim and the likes of John Walker Lindh being recruited everyday to inflict pain and suffering on the United States and its allies, do we truly have the freedom we once had? With our news agencies becoming more liberal, schools teaching their own brand of history, it is no wonder these cowardly acts are taking place. If this is allowed to continue without the proper oversight by the Department of Homeland Security, and Federal and Local Law Enforcement agencies, we can be assured of one thing and that is more of the same.
Don’t be surprised when there is an explosion at a mall in Boise, Idaho or a massive shooting attack in Provo, Utah.
